Though this
system belongs to Phass famous as high class products, this is ES
series targets of the basic class. Another ES 5.4 / 5" woofer type
is released in ES series, we installed it in the baffle project Part
2, page: 16~19. This ES 6.5 is older model of ES 5.4. The
combination of black basket and cone is common outer look of Phass
speaker systems. Midbass is made with light weight, weigh 815 g.
Tweeter is fabric dome type, and comparatively small size. Compact
sized crossover network adopts 3 positions of 0/-3/-6 dB for
attenuating. Whenever I looked at Phass system units I think Phass
is skilled in completing the figures of units simply and compactly
except high end series. Its simplicity and compactness of units are
significant for the sound effect in car.
Vivid and
dynamic. Rhythmical and crisp sound from ES appears at my ears. The
essence of sound is quite smooth, charm and tasteful. Especially,
when I listened to one of my favorite CD of quintet with good
recording quality, ES is very good with making clear the differences
between the two spheres of sounding and non-sounding, and affords
three dimensional effects to the figures of sound appeared and
clarified in the space. In full symphony orchestra or big jazz band,
ES raises each presence of instruments clearly, and then ES
positively transmits each sound to listener's ear in its proper
soundscape. I discern that ES features good dispersion of sound. In
female vocal of Jazz or pops, there are proper density, tenseness
and firmness in the sound of ES so that I can listen to vocal
precisely. ES is not so high resolution type speaker and it is
making much more of reproduction of fundamental tone like other
speakers in the same price range, but ES is very good at the
unification of sound regardless of the amount of musical
information. This ES including 13 cm version ES 5.4 feature
decisively the good ability for raising the sound figure clearly.
